Viber

Viber is a cross-platform application for smartphones, meaning that it works on all

smartphone operating systems (OS). The most popular OS are Apple's iOS and Google

Android but let's not forget a few others, like BlackBerry OS, Windows Phone and

Symbian. The main purpose of the Viber app is a voip (voice over Internet

Protocol) option but, not less important, is the instant messaging option. After

the installation process Viber asks you for your cell phone number in order to

send you an SMS containing an activation code. The moment you type the code in,

Viber is ready fully functional and ready for you to start exploring who on your list of contacts has Viber installed. Yes, in order to use it, both users must have

Viber installed. This doesn't downgrade Viber's functionality at all, you'd be

surprised how many people already have it up and running. So, how much am I

getting charged? Nothing but a few of kilobytes of your data plan for a sms or a

few more for a real talk. Sounds like too much? There is no connection fee, no

flagfalls or subscriptions, this is too good to be true. Also, consider using a Wi-Fi connection and

avoid being charged at all! Sounds even better? Did I mention that you are able to

send photos that you've just taken? Or some older ones from your smartphone photo

album, of course, just choose one (two or more are feasible as well).

By the way, the person who you are talking/texting don’t need to be in

Australia, or nearby, actually, as long as the person has Viber running the

distance between you two doesn't matter at all! Just pay attention to time

difference because some of your friends overseas would actually mind being woken

up at 4 a.m. by your Viber call.

Viber is a favorite app for many, myself included, but I started to like it even

more since I realised it came out on my birthday, on Dec 2 2010.
